Tips on Cleaning with Baking Soda:

Let’s start with our favorite on the list, carpets. To easily remove unwanted odors on your rugs and carpets between professional cleanings, you can sprinkle the carpet with baking soda, let stand for 15 minutes and vacuum up.  This same method works for cleaning smelly pet beds and mats.

Another way we recommend cleaning with baking soda is to use it to clean your sinks. Those grimy deposits around your faucets are from mineral build up. As water pools, minerals settle, your sink or tub with calcium carbonate, called lime scale. Using baking soda eliminates the risk of toxins and discoloring or damaging your metal finishes. Cover with a paste made from vinegar and baking soda and let sit on the deposit for a couple hours before scrubbing away.

You can also clean your appliances with baking soda. Clean your dishwasher and coffeemaker by running an empty cycle with baking soda. Simply replace coffee grounds and detergent with baking soda.

Summer tip: Keep your grill clean this summer by putting some baking soda on a damp brush, scrubbing the grate, then rinsing.
