A kitchen with white cabinets and a dark wood-look plank floor

Vinyl is sold as the floor you never have to think about, and mostly it is. But the wood-look grain is embossed into the surface, and planks meet at seams. Dirt settles into both, and every pass of the mop leaves a little cleaner behind that holds onto the next round. That’s why a floor you clean every week can still look dull and gray.

We clean luxury vinyl plank, vinyl tile and sheet vinyl in homes and businesses across St. Louis, with the same step-by-step care we bring to carpet.

How we clean vinyl floors

  1. Inspect the floor with you, and point out anything that won’t clean out (scratches, dye stains, worn spots) so you know what to expect.
  2. Move small furniture out of the way before we start.
  3. Take up the loose dirt and grit first. Grit is what scratches vinyl, so it comes up dry before any water goes down.
  4. Pre-condition with a cleaning solution made for vinyl, given time to loosen the film and the soil.
  5. Agitate so the solution gets down into the texture and along the seams, not just across the top.
  6. Rinse and extract, taking the dirty solution right back up so water doesn’t sit in the seams.
  7. Dry the floor before we hand it back.
  8. Walk through it with you to make sure we didn’t miss a spot.

Why it still looks dirty after you mop

  • Residue builds up. Most floor cleaners leave a film behind. Each mopping adds a layer, and the film catches dirt.
  • The texture holds dirt. The grain that makes vinyl look like wood is pressed into the surface, and a flat mop glides over it.
  • Seams collect it. Plank edges are where grime lines up, which is why the floor can look striped up close.

Kitchens, basements and businesses

Vinyl goes where floors take a beating: kitchens, mudrooms, basements, rentals, and offices and restaurants that see heavy traffic. We clean all of them. If the same space has tile, see tile and grout cleaning. For the carpet in the next room, we can do it on the same visit: see carpet cleaning.

What it costs

Straight answers before you book.

What kinds of vinyl do you clean?

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP), luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and sheet vinyl, in homes and businesses.

My vinyl looks dull even after I mop. Why?

Most of the time it's residue. Floor cleaners and mop water leave a film that holds dirt, and the dirt settles into the embossed grain and the seams. Cleaning takes the film and the dirt out together.

Will water get under my planks?

We keep the water where it belongs. Click-together planks have seams, so we control how much water goes down and take it back up right away instead of leaving the floor wet.

Can you get every stain out?

We'll work to remove it. Some marks, like dye transfer or scratches in the wear layer, are in the floor itself and won't clean out. We'll tell you what to expect when we look at it.

Can you clean the carpet and the vinyl in the same visit?

Yes. Put both on your estimate request and we'll quote them together.

How much does vinyl floor cleaning cost?

It depends on how much floor there is and its condition, so we start with a free estimate. The estimate is the price.
