Questions we get asked
Price and booking
Can you come the same day?
Same-day service is often available. Call (314) 427-7800 to check.
When are home appointments?
Most home appointments are during the day. We'll set a day and an arrival window that works for you when we call or email you back with your price. Water damage is different: our emergency line, (314) 427-7800, is answered 24/7.
How much does professional carpet cleaning cost in St. Louis?
It depends on how many rooms and stairs you have, any rugs or furniture, how soiled the carpet is, pets and access. Start with a free estimate and you'll know the price before we start, with no upselling once the tech is on site.
Do I need to be home all day?
No. We arrive in a scheduled window of time.
Where do you work?
St. Louis County and City, St. Charles, O'Fallon, Jefferson County and the Metro East. See our service area page for more.
Carpet, upholstery and rugs
How does E&B clean carpets?
The same 8 steps every time: inspect, pre-vacuum, pre-condition spots and heavy traffic areas, agitate, truck-mount steam rinse, post-treat any remaining spots, groom the pile, and a final walk-through with you.
How does E&B clean upholstery?
Inspect, pre-vacuum, pre-condition with a solution matched to the fabric, hand agitate as needed, steam rinse, post-treat any remaining spots, brush the nap, and inspect with you.
How does E&B clean area rugs?
We pick up your rug, clean it, dry it and deliver it back, or you can drop it off at our shop in St. Louis (3050 Marshall Avenue).
Steam cleaning or dry cleaning?
We offer both. Steam cleaning with hot water extraction is more thorough; dry cleaning is a quick refresh with very little downtime.
Before and after a cleaning
How often should I have my carpets professionally cleaned?
Most carpet manufacturers recommend every 12 to 18 months. Busy rooms, hallways and stairs do better every 6 to 12 months, entryways more often, and homes with pets or young kids often go twice a year.
How do I prepare my home for carpet cleaning?
Pick up small things from the floor, put fragile and valuable items away, list your stains and what caused them, keep pets and kids in another room, and save us a parking spot near the door.
How long does carpet take to dry after professional cleaning?
It varies with the carpet and the humidity. After a steam clean, stay off the room until it's dry, which can take up to 24 hours. Dry cleaning is ready to use almost right away.
Does professional carpet cleaning reduce allergies?
It can help. Carpet traps dust, pollen and pet dander, and a hot water extraction clean flushes out what vacuuming leaves behind. Between cleanings, vacuum often with a HEPA-filter vacuum.
Drapes and air ducts
How does E&B clean drapes?
Inspect, pre-vacuum surface dust, rinse with an odorless mineral spirit solution and vacuum, post-clean any remaining spots, and inspect with you.
How does E&B clean air ducts?
We count the vents, wash the vent covers, vacuum each duct back to the furnace, clean the main ducting from the basement, deodorize the ducts, replace the covers and inspect.
Businesses
What do you clean for businesses?
Carpet, area rugs, upholstery, drapery, tile and grout, pet stains and odors, air ducts, carpet dyeing and repair, and 24/7 emergency water extraction.
Can you work around our business hours?
Yes. For businesses we schedule at any time of day, and most commercial cleaning happens early in the morning, late at night or on weekends, when you're closed.
Water damage
Can E&B handle flood and water damage?
Yes. We offer emergency water extraction 24/7, plus structural drying and dehumidification. Call (314) 427-7800.
Can professional carpet cleaners get mold or mildew out of carpet?
Mold and mildew can start to grow when carpet stays wet for more than 24 hours, so call fast. A small spot can often be treated; mold across a large area of the backing usually means replacing that section of carpet and pad. We'll tell you honestly what we see.
